Macronaut Terms of Service
The agreement between you and RDJ Labs Pty Ltd for using Macronaut.
Last updated: 12 June 2026 · Applies to: the Macronaut app and getmacronaut.com
The short version
Macronaut helps you track meals, macros, and your kitchen, on your own or with a partner. By using it, you agree to these terms.
Macronaut gives you general nutrition information and estimates. It is not medical or dietary advice, so please check with a health professional before making big changes. Keep your account secure, use the app fairly, and remember the food and health choices you make are your own.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what legally apply. Questions? Email us at support@getmacronaut.com.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (the "terms") are a legal agreement between you and RDJ Labs Pty Ltd (ABN 96 698 396 011, ACN 698 396 011), an Australian company that operates the Macronaut app and brand ("Macronaut", "we", "us", or "our").
These terms cover your use of the Macronaut app, our website at getmacronaut.com, and any related features and services (together, the "service"). By creating an account, or by accessing or using the service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
These terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. Please read it as well.
2. Who can use Macronaut
To use Macronaut, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live requires a higher age to agree to terms like these or to share health information.
- Be able to enter into a binding agreement with us, and not be barred from doing so under any applicable law.
- Be a resident of a country where Macronaut is currently offered. As at the date of these terms, Macronaut is offered in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and India. It is not offered in any other country. See our Privacy Policy section 2 for the current country list.
- Provide accurate information about yourself when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
If you are using Macronaut on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for them.
3. Your account
You need an account to use most of the service. You are responsible for your account, including keeping your login details private and secure, and for everything that happens under your account.
- Use a strong password and do not share your account with others.
- Tell us promptly at support@getmacronaut.com if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
- Each account is for one person. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter.
We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts in line with section 18.
4. What Macronaut does
Macronaut is a health and nutrition app. It helps you log meals using photos, voice, or text, estimate the calories and macronutrients in your food, set targets that suit your goal, and keep track of what is in your kitchen. If you link with a partner, you can share selected information and split a single cooked meal between two people with different goals.
We are always improving the service, so features may be added, changed, or removed over time. Some features may be offered as previews or in test form and may not work perfectly.
We are honest about what Macronaut is and is not. It is a helpful tool for tracking and planning. It is not a substitute for professional advice, and the numbers it shows are estimates rather than exact measurements.
5. Important health, nutrition, and outcome notice
Macronaut is a general wellness and nutrition tracking tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not give medical, dietary, nutritional, or health advice. The targets, calories, macros, and suggestions it shows are general information and estimates only.
Macronaut does not promise or guarantee weight loss, weight gain, muscle gain, improved health outcomes, or any specific physical, mental, or medical result. The "Lean Down", "Build Up", "Stay Balanced", and "Lean Kitchen" goals, and any macro or calorie targets associated with them, are planning aids — not prescriptions. Your results depend on many factors outside the app, including the accuracy of the information you enter, your medical history, your other activities, and choices made by you and any professional you consult.
Always speak with a qualified doctor, dietitian, or other health professional before making significant changes to your diet, starting a new eating or exercise plan, or if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication, have a history of disordered eating, or are otherwise at risk. Do not use Macronaut to diagnose or treat any health condition.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service. If you are struggling with your relationship with food or eating, please reach out to a qualified professional or a support service. You are responsible for the food, health, and lifestyle choices you make. We are not responsible for outcomes that follow from those choices.
6. AI features and estimates
Some features use artificial intelligence to read your meal photos and voice notes and to answer your questions. These features produce estimates, not exact results. We show confidence ranges instead of pretending to be perfectly precise, and we ask you to review and confirm or correct what the app suggests.
Because the information is estimated, we do not guarantee that it is accurate or complete, and you should not rely on it as if it were exact. You stay in control of what is logged, and you can correct it at any time. AI services can also be wrong, unavailable, or make mistakes that we cannot predict or prevent — using AI features is your choice and you accept that risk when you use them.
7. Couple Mode and shared accounts
Macronaut lets you link your account with a partner. If you do:
- You each keep your own separate account, and you each remain responsible for your own account and content.
- You control exactly what you share with your partner, field by field, and you can change this or unlink at any time.
- Only share information you are comfortable with. Information your partner has already seen or saved — including in their own notes, screenshots, or memory — may remain with them after you unlink, and we cannot recover or delete that.
- Where one subscription covers both partners, the person who pays is responsible for that subscription. If the paying partner cancels, lets the payment lapse, or stops paying for any reason, the paid features will end for both partners at the end of the current billing period. We will tell you both in the app before that happens.
- We cannot resolve relationship disputes between linked partners. You remain individually responsible for your own account.
8. Subscriptions, billing, and payments
Macronaut may be offered with free features and paid subscription features. If you buy a subscription, the price, billing period, what is included, and when it auto-renews will be shown to you before you pay.
Payments are handled by our subscription provider, RevenueCat (based in the United States), which coordinates with the Apple App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android, or our web payment processor for browser purchases. We do not store your full card details. Your use of an app store is also subject to that store's terms.
Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your subscription will continue until the end of the period you have already paid for. Where you subscribed through an app store, you manage and cancel your subscription through that store's account settings.
We may change prices or what is included in a plan. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice, and any change will apply from your next billing period.
Prices may include or exclude taxes depending on where you live. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase.
Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable once a billing period has started. Nothing in this section limits any refund or remedy you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded (see sections 15 and 16). In particular, if a paid subscription fails to meet a consumer guarantee for a reason that amounts to a "major failure", you may be entitled to a refund or to terminate the subscription under the Australian Consumer Law, and your other rights to compensation are preserved.
9. Your content and the licence you give us
"Your content" means the photos, voice notes, text, food and kitchen entries, and other information you add to the service. You keep ownership of your content.
To run the service for you, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence (limited to the countries where Macronaut is currently offered) to host, store, copy, process, and display your content, and to share it with the service providers who help us operate the app (for example, to read a meal photo or transcribe a voice note). This licence lasts only as long as we need it to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, and it ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for copies we are required to keep by law or in routine backups for a limited time.
You confirm that you have the right to add your content, that it does not break any law or infringe anyone else's rights, and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We may remove content that breaches these terms.
10. Acceptable use
When using Macronaut, you agree not to:
- Break the law, or use the service for anything unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent.
- Upload content that is illegal, abusive, infringing, or that belongs to someone else without permission.
- Try to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours, or get around our security.
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the service, or introduce malicious code.
- Copy, scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or commercially exploit the service or its content, except where the law allows it.
- Use the service to build or train a competing product, or to extract our data in bulk.
- Misrepresent who you are, or use the service on behalf of someone without their authority.
If you break these rules, we may take action under section 18.
Fair use of AI features. Our AI features — meal, fridge, and receipt scanning, the Mira voice and text assistant, and Chef Nova suggestions — cost us money to run on every request. Where a paid plan describes these features as "unlimited", that means unlimited for normal personal use: we apply reasonable fair-use limits (for example, a generous daily or weekly allowance) to prevent automated, bulk, or abusive use that does not reflect one person's genuine day-to-day cooking. Free plans include a smaller set allowance of these AI features, which we show you before you sign up and which you can see in the app. We will not cut off your ordinary, good-faith use without reason, and we will tell you in the app when you reach a limit. Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
11. Our intellectual property
The Macronaut app, website, software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the "Macronaut" and "RDJ Labs" names and branding are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. The verified food data we use is sourced from third parties, including public nutrition databases such as the USDA FoodData Central, and we use it under the terms those sources allow.
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own personal, non-commercial use, in line with these terms. You may not use our branding without our written permission. All rights we do not expressly grant you are reserved.
12. Third-party services
Macronaut relies on trusted third-party services to work, including cloud hosting, AI vision and language services, voice transcription, sign-in, payments, and public nutrition databases. The service may also link to websites or services we do not control.
These third-party services have their own terms, privacy policies, technical limitations, and possible outages. They may also make mistakes — for example, an AI service may misread a photo, a payment provider may temporarily fail, or a sign-in provider may go down. We have chosen our providers carefully and we monitor them, but we are not responsible for failures, errors, or actions of third-party services, including AI providers, payment processors, and app stores, that are outside our reasonable control.
Your use of these third-party services may be governed by their own terms, which we encourage you to read.
13. Privacy
We respect your privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have, including the extra rights that apply in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and India. By using the service, you acknowledge our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
14. Availability and changes to the service
We work hard to keep Macronaut available and reliable, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error free. We may need to carry out maintenance, fix problems, or make changes.
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features or the whole service. Where a change is significant and within our control, we will give you reasonable notice if it is practical to do so. We are not liable to you for changes made in line with these terms.
15. Disclaimers — what we don't promise and where you bear the risk
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not make promises or guarantees about the service beyond those set out in these terms.
Specifically, we do not promise or guarantee:
- That the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error free, or free from data loss.
- That the estimates, nutrition information, AI-generated text, suggestions, or targets the app shows will be accurate, complete, suitable for your needs, or free from mistakes.
- That any specific outcome — including weight, body composition, fitness, health, or relationship outcomes — will result from using the service.
- That third-party services we depend on (including AI providers, payment processors, app stores, and hosting providers) will perform as expected at any given moment.
- That the service is appropriate for any medical, clinical, professional, regulated, or safety-critical use.
You use the service at your own risk and you are responsible for your own decisions. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are recovering from disordered eating, or are otherwise at risk, please consult a qualified professional before relying on anything Macronaut shows you.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If we are liable for failing to meet a consumer guarantee that cannot be excluded, and the failure does not relate to goods or services ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic, or household use and consumption, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the service again or paying the reasonable cost of having it supplied again.
16. Limitation of liability
Subject to the consumer guarantees and rights described in section 15, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with the service;
- we are not liable for any loss, injury, or harm caused by your reliance on estimates, nutrition information, targets, AI-generated text, or suggestions in the app, or by decisions you make about your diet, health, exercise, kitchen, relationship, or lifestyle; and
- our total liability to you for all claims connected with the service in any 12-month period is limited to the total amount you have actually paid us for the service in that period. If you have not paid us anything in that period, you have not paid for the service, and our liability to you is limited to what is required to give effect to any consumer guarantee or right that cannot be excluded by law.
Some places do not allow certain limitations. In that case, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law, and the mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence prevails over this section.
17. Your promise to cover certain costs (indemnity)
You agree to cover us, and our directors, employees, and contractors, for reasonable losses, costs, claims, and expenses we suffer that arise from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, your content, or your breach of any law or of someone else's rights. This does not apply to the extent the loss was caused by our own breach of these terms or our negligence.
This indemnity applies only to the extent allowed by the consumer protection law where you live. If a court finds part of it unenforceable against you, the rest still applies.
18. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Macronaut and close your account at any time from within the app or by contacting us.
We may suspend or limit your access to, or close, your account if you breach these terms, if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the service, other users, or our rights, or if we are required to by law. Where it is practical and lawful to do so, we will let you know and give you a chance to fix the problem first.
If your account is closed, your right to use the service ends. Sections that by their nature should continue (including sections 9, 11, 15, 16, 17, 20, and 21) will survive. We will handle your information after closure as described in our Privacy Policy.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example as the service changes or the law changes. When we make an important change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the service and may close your account.
20. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If you have a concern, please contact us first at support@getmacronaut.com, and we will try to resolve it with you quickly and fairly.
If we cannot resolve it, the courts of New South Wales (and the courts that hear appeals from them) will have jurisdiction, and you and we submit to that jurisdiction. Nothing in this section takes away any right you have to bring a claim, or to rely on a consumer protection, in your country of residence — provided your country is one of those listed in section 2 — where the law of that country says you can.
21. General
- Entire agreement: these terms and the documents they refer to are the whole agreement between you and us about the service, and replace any earlier agreements about it.
- Severability: if any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver: if we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a sale or reorganisation, without reducing your rights.
- Events beyond our control: we are not responsible for failures or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- Notices: we may give you notices through the app, by email, or on our website. You can reach us using the details below.
